Savannah, GA (August 3, 2017) – United Way of the Coastal Empire’s “One by One” Campaign Kick-Off is in September with Dr. Todd Cellini, Assistant Chancellor at South University, serving as the campaign chair. Dr. Cellini, the youngest person to serve as campaign chair, is excited not only to raise funds for United Way, but also to inspire our next generation to make a difference in the lives of others.

The 38-year-old is no stranger to United Way. His mother, Linda Cellini, founded United Way of Sullivan County in their basement in New York in 1972. So, he understood the mission and value of United Way before he moved to Savannah in 2008.

For Dr. Cellini, showing the next generation the benefits of community involvement is essential. Every year, he brings South University students to the United Way Campaign Rally as a way to inspire them and show them the importance of giving, advocating, and volunteering.

Now as campaign chair, he is “blessed and honored” to take on this role to continue inspiring the next generation and thanking previous donors for their contributions.

“I’m excited,” said Dr. Cellini, “as campaign chair, I have been given the unique opportunity to inspire our future generation to make a difference. The landscape of giving is changing rapidly. Donors are giving in different ways and for different reasons; and millennials are at the forefront of this transformation.”

Dr. Cellini wants to use social media to tell the United Way story and encourage people to get involved by generating media buzz and curiosity. He also wants to expand the involvement of United Way Young Leaders Society, all of whom give $356 or more annually.

Dr. Cellini may be the youngest person to serve as the chair, but his fearlessness, determination, and charitable spirit are what make him unique and prepared to take on this role. His leadership skills and drive for helping others led him to serve as the president of a United Way funded agency, Park Place Outreach in 2016. He is also active in the community with other organizations such as the Friends of the Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Hospital, and serving as an ambassador for South University.

Dr. Cellini is set to kickoff this year’s campaign on Thursday, September 7 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Savannah Civic Center. The event is open to the public. Click here to purchase tickets.
