Created and led by women, United Way Women’s Legacy Council engages and inspires local women leaders to help low-income women in our community. By leveraging their skills, relationships, and resources in support of United Way, Women’s Legacy Council members make a profound difference in the lives of women and their families.
Transportation – It’s more than just a ride!
For many low-income women in our community, finding dependable transportation is a major barrier. This lack of transportation is often one of the most significant barriers to finding and keeping employment and accessing other services, such as a local food bank, health services, childcare, and life skills training programs. Having access to transportation has led low-income women to help themselves and their families to improve their livelihood.
Women’s Legacy Council is committed to raising awareness about the transportation issues facing low-income women and providing critical support to women who don’t have a car or other means to reach the services they need. Since its inception in 2009, Women’s Legacy Council has helped hundreds of women and children in our four counties receive transportation assistance.
