Savannah, GA
(April 20, 2009) – United Way of the Coastal Empire hosted the Beacon Society reception on Thursday, April 16 as a way to thank and recognize the philanthropic leadership of the members of the Beacon Society.  All members have contributed $1,200 or more in support of the United Way.

The elegant event, which was held at the Charles H. Morris Center, was made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Georgia Ports Authority.

United Way’s CEO and president, Gregg Schroeder, gratefully acknowledged the generosity of donors who share a commitment to our community, its people and its future. “Leadership givers are United Way’s most generous supporters and are an integral part of providing programs and services for individuals in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.”

Last year, the United Way campaign successfully raised $8,371,790 million with $2,065,382 of the campaign donations coming from 751 leadership donors. We owe these generous donors our sincere gratitude.

United Way also thanks New Arts Ensembles who had very generously provided musical entertainment for the evening.
