Savannah, GA (October 21, 2009) – With less than five weeks remaining until the campaign’s conclusion, 2009 Campaign Chair Jeff Kole announced today that the United Way of the Coastal Empire has raised $3,658,923 of its $8,200,000 goal, which represents 45% of the total.  The results were reported during a festive Mid-Campaign Rally held at Blowin’ Smoke BBQ.

Since early September, hundreds of organizations and community volunteers have spent thousands of hours canvassing the four county area to help United Way reach its $8,200,000 goal. Jeff Kole praised donors and volunteers for the campaign’s progress and told the energized crowd that their hard work and dedication is definitely showing results.

“The best time to give is when the needs are the greatest.  Despite economic challenges, we are stepping up our efforts to raise not only awareness, but also much needed support for agencies that are experiencing unprecedented demands for critical human service needs in our community,” said Jeff Kole, president of Kole Management Company.

The final fundraising total will be announced at United Way’s Victory Celebration on Friday, November 20, 2009.  The United Way Campaign helps support approximately 100 health and human service programs to individuals and families in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.
