Savannah, GA (February 4, 2009) – United Way of the Coastal Empire is the first United Way in Georgia to receive designation as a Bronze Level Partner by the Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia (PSG).

The Partnership for a Sustainable Georgia (PSG) is a voluntary program sponsored by the Department of Natural Resources Pollution Prevention Assistance Division (P2AD). The Partnership was begun to assist Georgia businesses and promote conservation practices in such areas as energy use and waste production. Free and open to any business or organization in Georgia, it includes four Partnership levels to fit the changing goals and environmental initiatives of the participants.

Becoming a partner will allow United Way of the Coastal Empire to access state resources, such as grant funding, to improve environmental efforts and help the organization achieve its sustainability goal.  As a partner, United Way will work to improve our current environmental efforts, identify potential cost saving measures, and set a standard for environmental excellence among our staff, partner agencies and the non-profit community in our service area, Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties.

At United Way, we recognize the value of effective environmental, safety and health programs,” said Gregg Schroeder, President and CEO of United Way of the Coastal Empire.  “Delivering environmental excellence is the right thing to do for our community and future generations.”

United Way of the Coastal Empire is currently in the process of meeting the criteria to qualify for the Silver Partnership Level.
