Savannah, GA (July 21, 2009) – Local non-profit organizations have between now and September 14, 2009 to declare their intent to apply for funding from United Way of the Coastal Empire. The fund will grant money to programs and services that have a proven track record of outcomes as well as new, innovative programs related to one of United Way priorities: Education and Youth Development, Health and Wellness, and Economic Independence. Organizations supporting families and neighborhoods with programs that provide food, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities of life are also encouraged to apply. Programs hoping to receive funding from United Way of the Coastal Empire must successfully complete an annual written proposal with relevant data that documents the needs.
The Program Funding Application is available on the United Way website (please click here to download the forms). An information session will be held on July 30, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Savannah Civic Center. Attendance is not mandatory for application submission. The submission date for completed applications is the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on Monday, September 14, 2009.
United Way will use its volunteer driven funding process to review applications and determine awards. The final decision and announcements of awards will be made in March 2010.
United Way of the Coastal Empire’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. We do this by creating lasting changes within the community and investing in direct services that contribute to larger community change strategies. United Way of the Coastal Empire focuses on three issue areas: Education and Youth Development, Health and Wellness, and Economic Independence. In addition, United Way realizes the importance of funding basic human needs. We will continue to support families and neighborhoods with programs that provide food, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities of life.
