Savannah, GA (June 21, 2010) – Despite a high level of heat, a number of golf teams joined together and showed their support as they took to the greens during the 18th Annual United Way Golf Tournament at the Club at Savannah Harbor.  Each year, the golf tournament is instrumental in jump-starting the United Way fundraising campaign, as it builds awareness of the community based programs that United Way of the Coastal Empire supports throughout its four county coverage.

The tournament kicked-off in the afternoon on Monday, June 14th, with close to 100 golfers participating in the event.  All proceeds benefit United Way of the Coastal Empire.

Prizes were awarded to Top 3 Net and Low Gross, 18 hole challenge winners, as well as an eagle chance drawing and raffle prizes.  First Place Net winner went to Team Jim Schidel.  Second Place Net winner went to Georgia Power.  Third Place Net winner went to MPV Wallcoverings.  Low Gross winner went to SunTrust Bank.

Special thanks go to Rex Cress, 2010 United Way Golf Tournament Chair, for his time and energy to make the fundraising a success.  United Way also thanks Carrabba’s Italian Grill for providing lunches for the golfers, as well as The Club at Savannah Harbor and a number of other local businesses for generously donating prizes for winning participants.
