Community Leaders United in Philanthrophy

The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is capable of receiving - Albert Einstein
On Tuesday, October 23, United Way of the Coastal Empire hosted a Beacon Society reception. An elegant event, which was held at the Jepson Center for the Arts, recognized the philanthropic leadership of the members of the Beacon Society, all of whom have contributed $1,200 or more in support of the United Way.
The evening was made possible by the generous contribution of Gulfstream Aerospace. Ira Berman, Senior Vice-President of Administration and General Counsel of Gulfstream, gratefully acknowledged the generosity of donors who share a commitment to our community, its people and its future. Mr. Berman is United Way’s 2007 Beacon Society Chair and past Chairman of the Board.
Leadership givers are United Way’s most generous supporters and are an integral part of providing individuals each year with the programs and services in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.
Last year , the community campaign successfully raised over $7.8 million with nearly 27% of the campaign donations coming from 934 leadership donors. The Leadership Giving donors alone accounted for $2,135,127 invested into the community in 2006. We owe these generous donors our sincere gratitude!
