United Way of the Coastal Empire Exceeds Campaign Goal, Raises $8,096,729

United Way of the Coastal Empire announced the community fundraising campaign successfully raised $8,096,729, exceeding its ambitious goal of $8 million set earlier in September. This total is 5.4% or $412,000 over last year.
These investments in the United Way of the Coastal Empire will address vital health and human care issues throughout Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties.
Bert Tenenbaum, 2007 Campaign Chair, and members of the Campaign Cabinet proudly reported the campaign total to a crowd of nearly 500 people at the Victory Celebration held at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront on Friday, November 16th.
Tenenbaum honored dedicated campaign volunteers, committed corporate partners, and valued community investors as critical elements in achieving this year’s campaign results. “Campaign Celebration is always a festive event, and I believe this year will be particularly memorable,” said Campaign Chair Bert Tenenbaum. “We celebrate the generosity of those who give, so those in need can be helped. There is no higher calling.” Tenenbaum is President of Chatham Steel Corporation.
Tenenbaum also thanked Gulfstream Aerospace for its record breaking employee campaign. Gulfstream raised more than $1.8 million which was 20% over last year's contribution. The company's contribution represents the largest corporate and employee campaign investment for the United Way of the Coastal Empire and the community.
One hundred percent of funds raised during the campaign will go directly to help people in need. United Way of the Coastal Empire is very grateful for its more than 35,000 contributors!
