Savannah, GA- With five weeks remaining until the campaign’s conclusion, 2015 Campaign Chair Toby Moreau announced that United Way of the Coastal Empire has raised $3,364,643 of its $9 million community wide goal, which represents 37% of the total. The results were reported during a festive Mid-Campaign Rally held at the Monterey Square.
Funds raised from the annual campaign help support human service programs that improve the lives of people in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties. Priority funding goes to successful programs that support areas of Education and Youth Development, Economic Independence, and Health and Wellness.
Since early September, hundreds of organizations and community volunteers have spent countless of hours canvassing the four county areas to help the United Way reach its goal. Moreau praised donors and volunteers for the campaign’s progress and told the re-energized crowd that their hard work and dedication is showing results. “We are blessed to have these dedicated volunteers and thousands of others like them involved with the United Way. Their generous and steadfast commitment makes it possible for the United Way to provide programs and services for our community,” said Toby Moreau, market president of BB&T.
Moreau also expressed a sincere appreciation to the 18 United Way Loaned Associates and the companies and organizations they represent. Loaned Associates are loaned by their employers or sponsored to assist United Way in the fundraising efforts. Loaned Associates keep fundraising costs low by maximizing staff and volunteer involvement. Special thanks to Joe Buck of Savannah Graduates for his recruitment and leadership of our Loaned Associates program.
The final fundraising total will be announced at United Way’s Victory Celebration on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:45 am at Hyatt Regency Savannah.
